The choir sings compositions in the original language with
a stress on authenticity. The repertoire includes music
of Tomas Luis de Victoria, Orlando de Lasso, Claudio Monteverdi,
Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Händel, Manoel Dias
de Oliveira, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, Felix
Mendelssohn Bartoldy, Gioacchino Rossini, Camille Saint Saens,
Charles Gounod, Cesar Franck, Anton Bruckner, and others.
The choir practice is held at the Baroque Cultural Center,
on Mondays and Wednesdays, at 7:00 p.m.
The
Chamber Choir participates in some of the Sunday concerts
at the cathedral, in productions of the operas at the Castro
Alves Theater, and the recording of compact discs. Normally
to become a member of the chamber choir, the canditade has
to study in the preparation choir and take a test.
